Somer Stiles is a dynamic advocate for children and families at Stiles Ewing Powers PC. Approaching family law with a blend of business acumen and heartfelt commitment to her clients, Somer is able to ease clients through a process filled with anxiety.
A Henrico County native, Somer attended Mills E. Godwin High School, Virginia Commonwealth University, and later received her Juris Doctorate from Liberty University School of Law. There, Somer distinguished herself through her dedication to advocacy, notably through her consistent volunteer work at the Lynchburg Group Home, where she supported vulnerable and at-risk youth.
As a second-generation family law attorney, Somer brings a unique perspective to the firm, building upon the legacy of her mother, an esteemed named partner at Stiles Ewing Powers PC. Somer served as a law clerk at Stiles Ewing Powers during all three years of law school gaining valuable client and courtroom experience by assisting top tier trial attorneys with divorce, custody and support matters.
Before transitioning to law, Somer cultivated an impressive track record in sales leadership, driving revenue growth and exceeding expectations in competitive markets including San Francisco, Manhattan and Brooklyn. As a regional sales director, she honed her skills in negotiation, strategic planning, finance, marketing, and client relationship management.
Due to her successful sales career, Somer’s advocacy and negotiation skills were recognized early in her legal training. She emerged as the overall winner of Liberty’s 2L Mediation competition, in which one of her professors affectionately coined her the “Dark Horse,” because of her exceptional conflict resolution with poise and skill. She was later hand selected by the faculty to represent the school in future negotiation competitions. Throughout law school, Somer was consistently praised for her drive, determination, and ability to graciously leverage constructive feedback to achieve outstanding results. Somer was a participant in Moot Court competitions and achieved the highest letter grade in Trial Advocacy.
Somer combines her passion for family law with careful and personal attention to each client. Somer is dedicated to providing strategic, compassionate, and effective representation to families throughout the Commonwealth.
